Posted in Shoes off at airport security (outside the USA) on 2017-05-22 16:20:56

I am 19 years old.I recently went on my very first airplane trip.I well knew that it would involve TSA security screening, part of which means removing your shoes to have them checked.I wore jeans,a long-slevved shirt,a windbreaker jacket and high-topped dress boots. The passenger right in front of me in the security line was a woman who looked to be in her mid-20s.We were processed through the line at roughly the same time. She was traveling alone and had a carry-on bag and a small piece of luggage. She was wearing a dress with nude-colored stockings and high heeled shoes. It was obvious that her shoes were really hurting her feet-she had a pained expression on her face and she was shifting around on her feet and sliding her feet in and out of her shoes to the point where it almost looked like she was doing a dance. When the time came for me to remove my shoes.I wasn't embarrassed. After all, eveyone else had to do the same thing.Besides, the boots were brand new and killing my feet.(Although,Ill admit, not nearly as much as that poor womans heels must have been killing hers!)It was a huge relief to be able to pull them off-I was wearing thick black designer socks with red.blue and gold patterns. The floor wasn't carpeted, but it was clean-it felt ice-cold and soothing underneath my aching feet.I was in my socks for about 10min,and every second was a pleasure.I noticed that when the woman was given back her high heels, she didn't put them back on;rather, she stuffed them in her carry on bag and walked into the airport terminal in her stocking feet.I didn't blame her one bit-I came this close to following her example but decided against it.(What a woman can get away with a guy might be stared at for, right?)So,thats the story of my firsr plane trip,If I every go on another,Ill be sure to wear comfortable shoes!

I am currently enrolled at a local community college. Not long ago a rainstorm started on a Sat night and went on through Mon afternoon. When I arrived to school Mon morning, the place looked like it had been flooded. There weren't just puddles but large STREAMS of water flowing all around. The stairs were like a minor waterfall;the water level elsewhere looked to be ankle-deep or higher.I was supposed to attend a job interview after classes that day,and I was wearing brand-new formal shoes, designer socks and dress pants.I couldn't have walked anywhere without getting my feet and legs soaking wet,so I removed my shoes and socks, put them in my backpack, rolled my pants legs up to my knees and went to class without any shoes on.I did feel like a total idiot running around the campus in bare feet.On the plus side,my shoes had killing me and the streams of ice-cold water did feel refreshing on my aching feet!Thankfully, the campus was only about a quarter full-I think that the rain causes a lot of students to simply miss class. And as I splashed across the quad,I did notice that more than a few of the students had done the same thing I had and were carrying their shoes with them as a went barefoot through the "water slide".My day at college that was spent"barefoot in the rain"was an experience that I wont soon forget!
