For how long was Jesus dead?

This poll is for Christians only.
It is not blasphemous to say that Jesus was dead for a time. All Christians believe that He died on the Cross, and then rose again. But for how long was He dead? The Holy Bible appears to say that He would be dead for three days and three nights (Matt.12:40) but most Christians believe that He was crucified on a Friday, and rose the following Sunday. Clearly this is only one day and two nights, not three days and three nights.
Some Christian sects have declared their belief that Jesus was crucified on a Thursday, or even Wednesday, to make the above Scripture correct. But what do you believe? Give your opinions here!

1. Are you a Christian?

70% (53) Yes I am. Hallelujah!!
29% (22) No, I am not (that's fine, please select this option, go to the end, and click on "done voting")

75 voters have answered this question.

2. In the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus states "For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth". (Matt.12:40). Do you agree that this Scripture refers to the time when He would be dead?

65% (40) Yes of course
14% (9) Yes, I kind of think so
9% (6) No, I think not
9% (6) No, absolutely not (please explain why on messageboard)

3% (2) None of the above is correct. Different days apply.
31% (19) I simply don't know on which day Jesus was crucified, and on which day He rose. It is not important.
3% (2) Other answer (feel free to post on messageboard)

7. If you believe specifically that Jesus died on the Cross on Friday and rose from the dead on Sunday (nearly all Christians do), do you agree that it's a bit difficult to figure "three days and three nights" (Matt.12:40) between that time?

32% (18) Yes, it clearly is not "three days and three nights" between Friday afternoon and early Sunday morning
12% (7) Ah, er, well, erm, I guess each "part" of a day is a whole day and night
10% (6) Jesus was crucified on Thursday, making Matt.12:40 correct
5% (3) Jesus was crucified on Wednesday and rose from the dead on Saturday, making Matt.12:40 correct
14% (8) This Scripture is difficult and I don't understand it, but I still believe Jesus died for me!!
