Nylons as a Dress-code Requirement

To indroduce myself briefly, I am a human resources manager at an art gallery. As part of the gallery's dress-code for male employees, I am required to wear a suit and tie while at work. While my clothing may not be the most comfortable, they provide the professionalism I think is representative of the gallery's public image. Of the women who work on the gallery floor (and who have the highest relations profile of all employees with respect to the public), they are required by code to wear nylons with their dress pants or skirt. Over the few years I've been with the gallery, I have received several requests to change that particular section of the dress-code, for various reasons usually related to comfort and hygiene. If you are a female employee and wear nylons on a regular basis, I would like to know your opinions on the issue. Thanks.
Do you believe that the dress-code requiring women to wear nylons at all times in the work environment is both appropriate and fair to the employee?

On a basis of comfort, select one or more types of hosiery that you would want to wear while at work:
ankle socks
sports socks
knee-high socks
opaque natural-fiber tights
sheer pantyhose
support pantyhose
thigh-high nylon stockings
knee-high nylons
opaque nylon tights
On the basis of comfort, which of the following are, in your opinion, the least comfortable to wear?:
ankle socks
sports socks
knee-length socks
opaque natural-fiber tights
sheer pantyhose
support pantyhose
thigh-high nylon stockings
knee-high nylon stockings
opaque nylon stockings
This questions seeks to establish, descriptively, your opinions about how nylons "feel" while being worn. Select the responses that closely relate to your experience: Nylons...
are great and I have no problems with them
feel smooth and silky on my legs
improve the appearance of my legs
are fashionable
are tight and constrictive
do not 'breathe'
make my legs/feet sweat
make my legs/feet itch
are too warm to wear for long hours indoors
are too warm to wear in the summer
Of the complaints I've heard about nylons, a common one is that they worsen foot hygiene problems. One of our employees was actually transferred from her position on the gallery floor to an office job because she could not tolerate wearing nylons any longer. Please select the responses that best describe your experience: Wearing nylons at work...
produces no ill effects with regards to my feet
has aggravated an existing foot condition
has been the cause of a foot condition
does not make my feet sweat more than other types of hosiery
makes my feet sweat more than other types of hosiery
makes my feet sweat excessively
does not make foot odor worse
mildly worsens foot odor when compared to other forms of hosiery
makes my feet smell noticeably when shoes are removed
makes foot odor unbearable (my feet stink!)
Finally, would you (of your own free choice) wear nylons in spite of any or all problems associated with them?
Yes, absolutely
Yes, with some reservations
