Does the earth rotate?

WTF?!

Posted by Rico Suave on 2008-11-23 18:41:29

Yeah, the Earth rotates on its axis once every twenty-four hours. Our planet revolves around the sun once every 365 days. This is how seasons happen. I would call this common knowledge. The ancient peoples brought us all to the light. Judging by how long I have been watching this area, I can say that the person who posed this question in the first place is either lazy or a coward (or both). Where are your beliefs?

Actually, Earth rotates on its axis once every 23 hours, 56 minutes, and 4.1 seconds. But because of Earth's orbital motion, the relative position of the Sun has shifted a little during that time, so Earth must rotate slightly more than once between one noon and the next noon, causing the length of a day to be 24 hours.

Why did you call the poll creator a coward?
