The Bible does not contradict itself.
God created us in his Image. This means we resemble God apearance wise.
God created us from the dust of the ground. This means he physically used earthly materials to form Adams Body.
If you believe God lead the children of Isreal out of Eygpt with a pillar of light, I would assume is also possible for that same God to lead the children of Isreal out of Egypt in just one night.
Being Baptised symbolizes you accepting the fact that there is a God, and commiting your life to him. It doesn't take Long for God to forgive a sincere person. Just like it wouldn't take long for a human to forgive someone who bumped into him/her, just as long as the person is humble and honest.
