Posted in Christmas - a Christian festival, or a pagan one? on 2008-01-02 08:02:15

If you do research in Encyclopedias and the internet at www.holidays.net December 25 is the birth day of the Sun god and many Christians were at one time opposed to celebrating it. Christmas was illegal in England and the American Colonies for a time.

Also Jesus was born in Bethlehem where it is very cold and rainy in December, the shepherds were living outside with their sheep when he was born, December is a time when they stay indoors. Also Jesus was thirty three and a half when he died in the spring indicating he was born around early October.

The astrologers better known as the wise men that brought gifts to Jesus brought them when he was a young child living in a house not when he was a baby in the manger, also they are not numbered so three wise men is unfounded. There could have been two or five or three, we don't know.

I didn't answer the last question because the seventh book of the Christian Greek Scriptures (New Testement)is 1 Corinthians 2 Corinthians would be the eighth.

I think you misunderstood, we do not consider ourselves a part of Christendom, we are different than other Christians but Jehovah's Witnesses consider themselves to be Christians.

For one thing whatever that chilism and the other word someone said we believe in. No we don't. Also the definition of a Christian is a person who follows Christ's teachings which Jehovah's Witnesses do do. In fact there was a Church Council in Europe comprised of several christian groups that said that the Jehovah's Witnesses carry out the apostolic practice of preaching door to door. The practice is found in the Bible concerning the early christians.

We do not believe that Watchtower leaders will take over the earth, where did that come from?
