Do you wear a sleep mask at the dentist? If so, is it just because of the bright light or more? Is there a problem with light getting in the edges?

Thank you for the suggestion. I did try that method on an overnight flight a few years ago. The airline provided a sleep mask and I tied a scarf over it. It did work well. Like most sleep masks, light got in around the edges, so the scarf was necessary. The only sleep mask I know that does not let any light in is the Mindfold. I got one recently and it is secure. It is larger and thicker than usual sleepmasks so tying a scarf over it wouldn't work well.

For trips to the dentist it is a personal preference to be blindfolded by the ladies with just the scarves. It helps relax me for the procedures, even just the cleanings. They enjoy it too.

For having blood drawn or shots I feel the same psychologically about being blindfolded as I do for dental visits. Hopefully I will make a poll soon about that. I have a problem with seeing needles and blood and just closing my eyes or looking away doesn't work. I need to be blindfolded.

I am sure it is very rare outside of papoose boards for unco-operative children and restraints for special needs adults. I consider myself lucky to have found my dentist and her staff. Once they have gone through the extra work of blindfolding and restraining me, their job is much easier. My hygienist enjoys it now and has fun with my helplessness. She pushes me around and orders me around now too, since she knows we both like it and I respond well to it. I always submit and obey.

It is much easier for me to be blindfolded and restrained. Since I trust my dentist and her staff, I can just relax and let them do their work. I don't know what is coming and can't do anything about it anyway. I feel very well taken care of.

I was past due for my usual cleaning because of the dental work outlined in my "New Hygienist" postings. It was crowded in the office when I arrived. L was busy so we didn't get to chat. I waited a long time. H finally came to get me and led me to the room by the hand. She took my bag and turned me away from her. She thanked me for wearing short sleeves as she pulled my wrists together behind my back. She tied them quickly and efficiently. H is used to restraining me, and she is now very good at it. The blindfold was next. I could hear her laying it out on the counter. Then she stepped behind me and all I could see was black. H tied the blindfold behind my head and led me to the chair. She helped me sit in it and put the bib on me. Then she reclined the chair and positioned me where she needed. I am so happy that she is confident and takes control. At first I told her what I was looking for and she was a little nervous. It didn't take long before she learned that she could have her way with me and we would both enjoy it.

H strapped me down nice and tight, then tied the scarf around my neck to the chair. She opened my mouth and placed the prop on the right side. She said she was very busy and couldn't spend any extra time with me. Then H sat on my thighs and began working on the left side of my mouth. I was already aroused and knew that she could tell. H cleaned my teeth very normally and professionally. It didn't take very long and she rinsed my mouth and wiped it with the bib. H got off of me and cleaned up the room. She unstrapped me and untied me from the chair. Then she helped me out of the chair and untied my hands. She untied the blindfold and slowly removed it. H said that she had to attend to several other patients who were waiting. I thanked her for taking care of me and hugged her. H led me to the waiting room and said goodbye.

It was finally time for my new tooth. L greeted me when I arrived and asked if I was happy my new tooth would be finished. I said yes and she smiled and got my chart while I signed in. I had a seat and a few minutes later H came out to get me. She stood in front of me and put her hand on my shoulder to let me know to remain seated. H took a mask out of her pocket and put it on. Then she took out a pair of exam gloves and put them on. She told me to stand up and hand her her tools. I obeyed and she looked in the bag before pronouncing that I did a good job in front of L. There was no one else in the waiting room at the time and H had me put my hands on the reception counter right in front of L. H took out the scarves for my blindfold and assembled them on the counter next to us. L took hold of my hands from her side and smiled as H covered my eyes. Everything went completely dark and H tied the blindfold tight. L didn't let go as H took the handkerchief out of my waistband and stuffed it in my mouth. She covered my mouth and lower face with tape and put a mask over it. I heard H rummage in the bag and soon felt a scarf tied snug around my neck. H had L hold the ends, then pulled my hands behind my back. As always, she tied them so I couldn't get free. H spun me around several times and L wished me good luck as H led me away by the scarf around my neck. H helped me into the chair and attached the bib. Then she lowered the chair and strapped me in. I couldn't move. H put her hands on my shoulders and told me to think about how helpless I was for her. She said she could do anything she wanted with me and I couldn't stop her, then turned the scarf around my neck so the knot was in the back and tied it around the base of the headrest. H held my head in her hands and said everything was going to be ok. She put her left hand on my right shoulder and her right hand on my right thigh. I relaxed and thought only of her.

I don't know how much time went by, but eventually H said she would check on the dentist to see what was taking so long. A little while later L came in and said that Dr. C and H were busy with another patient and it would be a while before they could get back to me. L asked if I was ok and I nodded my head yes. She put a hand on my shoulder and stayed until the phone rang. Dr. C came in and apologized for the long wait. She asked if I was ok and I nodded yes. She said this was a big day for me as H entered. Dr. C told H to remove my gag and prop my mouth open for her. H did so and soon Dr. C was screwing the new tooth in. It only took a few minutes and she said it was a perfect fit. H flossed around it and it was tight. Dr. C put her hands on my shoulders, then told H to remove the prop, clean me up, then take an x-ray and regag me. H did so as Dr. C said she wanted to see how much I really liked being tied up. She called L in and told H and L not to untie me in any way until she said so. Then she added that they should keep checking on me and could do what they wanted with her captive patient until that time, as long as they didn't neglect their regular duties. They all left and someone checked on me from time to time. Each time something was done to me that felt wonderful. After a long time all three women returned and Dr. C told H to remove my gag and place the prop in my mouth. She checked the new tooth again and said it was perfect. She told H and L to untie me. They unstrapped me and untied the scarf from the headrest and my neck. Then they removed the bib and prop and raised the chair. H untied my blindfold and once again the overhead light in the room was off. I sat there watching them put away the straps and fold the scarves. They were having fun which made me even happier. H helped me out of the chair and showed me my new tooth. She untied my hands and gave me a print of the x-ray of my new tooth. They led me to the waiting room and I made an appointment for a much overdue check up and cleaning. I hugged both ladies and thanked them for taking such good care of me.
