Today's (8-14) power outage is just the begining. It is predicted amongst energy experts that by 2012 there will be a perminent power outage. Sorry folks, the party is over. We're running out of resourses.

P.S. Just a side note. Has it occured to anyone else that gas prices have doubled in three years?

========== In Reply To ========== Good point!I'll add that next update, even though I doubt that we will all die collectively as a result of this occurence, there are people on this ball of dirt who don't rely on those things to survive, but you bring up an interesting idea.I'll sleep, but not as well, to be sure, but then I never do anyway...

Welcome to the new world order.

We know about the 2000 election. We know about the Republicans paying for people to stand outside of walmart to collect votes on a recall to disenfanchise voters in California. What most people don't know, is that 3 states have had their primarys cut out of the budget. Sorry Colorado, Kansas and Utah, you don't get to vote this year because republicans cut the budget for you to vote. The story was in the Baltimore Sun. You can find this story at: Baltimore Sun

I was surprised the depletion of world resources wasn't on your list of ways we are going to shuffle off of this big blue marble. Just to scare the heck out of people who care, do a websearch on the words "Peak oil" and see when the experts think that we are going to run out of oil. Then, the next time you go grocery shopping, think of how many of the products that you buy are produced (and not shipped) in your hometown. Sleep well.

1) I was at a Democratic conference in Washington D.C. called "Take Back America" early in the campaign. Dennis Kucinick gave a anti-war speach that rocked the house (it so moved the crowd that $%!@ Gephart, who was the next speaker, rescheduled his speach for the next day!). Before that, Dean did not speak out against the war. 2) Who represents the people? We know that republicans favor the corperations. Dennis fought against the FCC deregulation vote that allowed the media monopolies to grow (even though 750,000 letters were sent to the FCC that were 99 percent against the vote). So it is no wonder that since the begining, the media has taken all focus off of Dennis and has made Dean the front-runner of the liberal party. (And remember, it was Viacom that gave Hillery the 2 million to write her last book) 3) Dean does not even mention NAFTA and the WTO. These orginizations give large loans to countries that they can never pay off which devalues there currency. That makes them able to move their corperations into these countries and get low paying workers (In my home town of Fredericksburg, Va. we have 2 main employers. One of those, Capitol One, is moving to India). Then, because of "free trade", no levies are charged to imported goods which basically makes these corperations tax free. Take a look in your local paper and see what tech jobs are still around. Then take a look at the unemployement rate in America. Again, who represents the American workers? 4)It is Kucinich that supports the "Single payer" health care system that takes the profit out of the system. This system would give the millions of americans coverage who do not have health care now. It would not cost you anymore money then it does now. It would simply remove the fat cat insurance companies and drug companies HUGE profits. Most of Europe and Canada already use this system, and it works. 5) The U.S. currently spends more money on its military then the next 9 highest military budgets (including Britain, Russia, China, Korea, and others) combined! And, according to the budget, in the near future we will be spending more money then ALL other countries combined in the near future. Dean wants to keep spending more money in our military. Kucinich wants to use some of that money for education. 6) It was Kucinich that brought a proposal to Washington to investigate the questionable claims of WMD's. He held up the purposal at the "Take Back America" conference in Washington to the wild roars of approval from the crowd. 7) It is Kucinich that is against the Patriot Act that re-writes the constitution. Dean has not touched on the subject even though the ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union) has condemed it. I hope you get a chance to see the ACLU commercial that has classroom students asking the teacher questions like, "What about the right to a lawyer, we still have that, right?" and "What about the right to privacy?" ...great commercial. 8)It is Kucinich that wants to help the smaller farmers be able to compete with the huge commercial growers. 9) It is Kucinich that wants the U.S. to abide by treaties that it has with the rest of the world that will help stop another nuclear arms race and help protect the environment. Artical 6, section 2 of the Constitution makes these treaties the "supreme law of the land" and gives the power to Congress to make and break treaties...Bush seems to have forgotten this. And again, this is not something that Dean touches on. These are just a few issues that face the two candidates. Again, you wont hear about this from the media giants who get alot of funding from oil companies, drug companies, etc. Ask yourself, are the oppinion polls there to reflect oppinion or to create it? Don't fall for it!
