Excellent poll. My only issue with it is the question on the Mass. Where was the "all of the above" choice? That would have been closer to orthodox Catholic teaching! Sacrifice, memorial, and meal: not just one of them!

Ecumenism is the name of the movement to remove denominational boundaries within Christianity, and to do it in a realy way.

Unfortunately, even many Christians who claim to belong to a "nondenominational" church are very denominational, and usually fundamentalist too, which is denominationalism in the extreme.

THe original undivided church was called catholic because it was iniversal and undivided. The Catholic CHurch of today is related to it, but obviously isn't the universal and undivided church of the past. But thats what we must work for.

THanks for making this poll to raise the awareness!!

Great poll except for one mistake. Your question on the Our Father says that hand holding is not in the GIRM but that ORans and folded hands are.

Actually, none of those is in the GIRM. It doesn't say anything at all about the appropriate posture during the Our Father. What it says about posture in general is that we should all be doing the same thing in a given assembly.

Liturguists will tell us that the Orans is the traditional posture. Hand holding is a natural and legitimate custom in some places. Hands folded is niether traditional nor customary, so is a last option.
