Posted in lines as punishment on 2004-12-11 06:18:22

I read the post below and almost got sick. I'm an old fart, from the old school. And the only reason I am jumping in on this thread is because of the post below.

It is totally irresponsible for anyone to tell a minor, to disrespect, disobey and rebel against the authority in their lives. The whole purpose of enforced discipline during our youthful years, is so that we can develope self-discipline by the time we reach adulthood. I do think that 10,000 lines is excessive, but the poster did say, the original punishment was 1,000 lines, and it was his own fault that the punishment was increased.

I can only hope, that everyone has enough sense about them, NOT to take this advice of refusing to obey authority and to rebel against it. There will be authority figures in your life forever. Everyone has people they have to answer to. And believe it or not, adults get punished for disobeying their authority figures also.

I would love to see the poster of the below advice, enlist into the military. His entire view of discipline would change overnight or at least by the end of the first week. And if he thinks not, then he can accept it as a challenge and join up.

In Reply to--------------------- You people are so full of it. 10,000 lines, sure, in your fetish dreams. What I don't understand is how you people can be so weak minded as to actually do that many lines. If this is really the case? Remember no one can force you to do anything. You might get punished in other way, but just keep refusing to do it. If the punishments get too severe call the police. There is a line between what is disciple and what is abuse. As long as you allow them to treat you this way they will keep doing it to you and do it to other people. However once you show them that you will not tolerate it they will not do it. This might mean getting suspended or even expelled, but a letter to the school board or your state can work wonders. You can even go to the media. What kind of parents do you have that will let a school get away with making a child write 1000 or 10,000 lines. If your parents are doing this then again what kind of parents do you have. They are not teaching you disciple, they are sadist. Don't let these people brainwash you into thinking what they are doing is ok, because it is not. Like I said quite being weak minded and refuse to do them. Let them keep raising the number all they want, but don't do them. Period, no matter what. Even if you parents threaten you. If you don’t stand up for yourself now you will be weak your entire lives and subject your own children to the same thing.

As an old fart, I don't mind kids being kids, and sagging their pants. Fashion is fashion. It comes and it goes. Seeing a guys "underwear" (I spelled it correctly, for the english majors reading this) is fine with me, as long as it's clean. What I don't like is seeing anatomy. Pubes and crack need to be kept covered. PLEASE!

And why is it such a problem for you?

I'm an old fart, and I mispell words on here all the time. What makes the difference if a person wants to use, "wat, for what?

This isn't an English Class assignment. This is for recreation.

Lighten up, and let kids be kids.

Which in our case, is actually private school, being taught at home.

My nephews and nieces were taken out of public school 3 years ago, and since then, they are doing so much better. No more cliques, fads, groups, gangs, peer pressure, parent/teacher disputes, detentions, or any of the other problems associated with public schooling now days.

Socially they are doing so much better. They can have the friends they want, instead of competeing to fit into a certain group.

Grade wise? They are doing so much better. In homeschooling, you have to keep retaking the course until you pass it with an "A", which means you actually learn the material. So all of them have better grades, and are actually ahead of their peers, because they are allowed to go at their own pace, and anyone who knows teens, knows they want to get their school done and out of the way, so they can do other things, which encourages them to go quicker than a public school.

Well get used to it.

We are becoming a politically correct nation, whether we want it or not.

Have you checked out what is going on right now. The word Christmas is being removed from everything. I guess that means "A Christmas Story" will be banned next.

"Huck Finn" was banned from many schools years ago, because the school officials claimed that the book depicted a homosexual relationship between Huck and Jim of the raft, because they went skinnydipping together. Now, I read that book as a boy, and never once saw that in the book, but hey! Those people with the degrees and all those letters after their names, dr. phd, and etc, must know better than us. right?
