User: Mister Poll

Hey, now everybody play nicely. Don't make me pull this web site over. :)

You both demonstrate the point that everybody has their own idea of what the MisterPoll site should be. People are different, so that's inevitable. The good part is that obviously everybody here enjoys something about it, or let's face it, we wouldn't be here.

Things were quite different when we launched the site five years ago. The internet was less populated, and our site traffic was moderate at best. People just had fun creating polls, and everything was less complicated. At that time, it didn't cost us much to keep the site going out of our own pockets, so that's what we did.

Then the internet grew like crazy. Teenagers discovered us and started huge flame wars in both the polls and the message areas, causing us to be contacted regularly by $%!@ed off PTA parents, school principals, and police departments. So, we had to start screening polls instead of letting everything in. This took a lot more of our time than the site ever had before.

Then the adult crowd discovered us, which is fine with us as long as it's legal. However, we then started getting calls and emails from the conservative public who were offended at what they were seeing. So, we made all adult polls private, accessible by URL only. This, of course, ticked off the more liberal adult crowd. Thus, the adult poll categories were born.

While the amount of our time required for site maintenance skyrocketed, so did our traffic. We now get over 2 million page views per month, which costs us a pretty penny in hosting and bandwidth charges. So we have to figure out some way to make the site earn its keep. The ads, merchandise, and new subscription levels are all attempts at becoming a self-supporting site.

We can't be everything to everybody, and unfortunately the public won't let us be the free-for-all amusement park we used to be. However, we do our best to keep the site fun, entertaining, and available to all.

We always welcome comments and suggestions from our users as well.

And no, it doesn't take much to make me happy. Life is not always complicated. If people want to pay for stupidity and perversion, let them. It's better than having that garbage all over the place. :-)

That's a good question :) All new polls go through our review process, but the requirements for adult polls are much more lenient, so significantly more polls are let through to the adult area. There are certain types of polls that will never be added and this won't change with the adult screening process. This includes junk polls that are incomplete or borderline incoherent. Occasionally, duplicate polls are left out when its an area we know to be well covered (at least a dozen other polls) and the poll in question is clearly adding nothing new. We also screen out polls that appear to slander individuals named within the poll (a teenager thing). And finally polls that cross our personal line in terms of glorifying violence or crimes against children are screened out. The final one is pretty non negotiable. We're all pretty liberal and open minded here, so if it offends us it's definitely not fit for a general audience. I hope that answers your question and anyone else's who may have been wondering about our publication policy.

That said, we've got some pretty steamy stuff in our new adult area. I don't think many people will be disappointed with the content we've added there, most of the major fetish areas are well represented =)

Personally I agree with you on this and most of our staff probably does also. But we attempt to be objective with our reviews even if it doesn't agree with our personal feelings. While I would prefer not to see endless polls about bodily functions in the directory, the current line is at sexual content. What this means is that polls with no specific sexual content are not categorized as Fetish. I spot checked most of the polls in your list and didn't see any with sexual content, so these seem to meet the guideline.

That said, our reviewing system is currently in flux right now while we decide where the lines are for adult content, so you may see certain types of polls drift in and out of different categories. This should settle down a bit once we solidify how we're going to organize the new content. For now, please bear with us and feel free to email suggestions :) Or better yet, maybe we need a poll on this - heh.

Still, we will all learn everything we ever wanted to know about urination and evacuating our bowels.

As some of you may have noticed, we have recently stopped adding polls to the public directory that appear to be fetish oriented. Polls that are already in the directory will remain as they are for now, but they are also subject to recategorization at some point in the near future.

In the past month we have been gearing up for some new additions to the site, one of which is the opening up of adult content. These changes in our reviewing process will not only create content for the new adult area, but will also remove these polls from less appropriate areas of our site. Once our site changes are complete and we've collected enough content for the adult section of Mister Poll, the new changes will be made available to the public.

We are aware that many users are unhappy with the overwhelming presence fetish polls in the general directory and this is one of the ways we hope to address that. We realize that many of these polls are seemingly innocent in their content and language, but in spirit they are truly adult and they belong in an adult forum. We hope this will please both audiences by allowing users who don't wish to see this type of content to be shielded from it, while allowing those who want to view such items an easier method for locating these polls.

The reason this poll was marked as limited was not because it dealt with Formula 1 racing, but because it dealt with a specific geographical region within the Formula 1 racing topic. In most circumstances when a poll is targetted to a regional audience, it is not included in the public directory. This poll can still be found by searching the site, so it is still accessible to the public even if it's not in the directory.

I am a little disappointed you decided to make it a 'limited' poll. F1 is a popular, worldwide sport and there are no other recent polls on this subject.
