first of all, women are not as different from men cognitively as societal values may lead you to think. From my studies in neurology, I have learned that the only difference found in cognition between women and men is that they perform differently on word production tests and spatial orientation tests (women are better). Women have fought alongside men in the military of various nations, including israel, and have not proven to perform less well than men in general. If a woman is pumped up and becomes buff through working out and lifting weights, she can be strong and probably kick a lot of $%!@. Keeping women out of combat only hurts the military, who could have more able-bodied soldiers than they would otherwise have.

I don't think my problem with islam stems from ethnic bias, but because I have noticed, upon learning about islam, that they are sexist against women. For example, islam has the notion that women don't have souls and should cover their bodies. I think it's hypocritical to say that every culture is as good as the next because some cultures have biases in them, so the culture itself is not fair.

maybe I don't understand islam enough and if there are types of islamic religion that think that people are equal regardless of gender, then I would support that.

I also want to point out that I was kind of disturbed to see that out of 600 people who voted, more people would side with palestinians than israelis. I think if anything, people shouldn't form a judgement unless they have lived in the area; I have lived in israel for nine years and I think I have gained a good perspective of the conflict there; I don't really want to open up the can of worms that is the discussion about the conflict in the middle east, but I'd like to say that the way the conflict and the jews in israel are portrayed on the media is not quite the way things are there...also let me point out that palestine, when it existed as a nation, contained not only israel, but also other surrounding arab nations, but the palestinians direct attacks at israelis, not members of other nations that used to be in palestine.

by saying this I did not intend to offend anyone; if you get the chance, live in the area for a few years, so you can gain a better perspective...

actually, I find that asian men are controlling and chauvenist. I have many asian friends and I have seen their parents, the father is often controlling and the woman is submissive

I think women who judge men by their wealth or position are feeling incompetent, I don't place that much emphasis on what the guy does, I care about what I do...haha

========== In Reply To ========== Girls are just as jugemental as guys, and it's naive to assume otherwise. Women just have different criteria. For example, women attach a lot more importance to position/power/wealth/popularity. If women get $%!@ed off because the first thing any man wants to know is "what does she look like?", men get $%!@ed off when the first question a woman asks is "what do you do?" (lit. what is your job, how successful are you?). Women judge men by their looks as well (perhaps not as openly), so this is hypocrisy.

lol, I don't know about you sister but I judge guys by how they look...I know it's shallow, but it's so hard not to! I mean, I bet if a woman were to see two guys, and one looked like keanu reeves and the other looked like carrot top, she'd go for keanu ;)

We don't judge guys by what they look like or if they're hot or not so why should they? Girls who aren't good looking shouldn't be deprived of finding a man because most of them, are really beautiful inside.
