I'm from the Christian Reformed Church in Australia, which is from the Dutch Reformed church in Holland, and I think people get confused from the word Trinity, and it doesn't help-both me and my father like the dutch translation which directly translates from the Bible to the 'Three 'Oneness''. It means that God has three distinctly different forms who also come together to form the God that we know. They are three, but come together perfectly as one. These three are the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and Jesus (The Son) is the form in which God:

a)reached out to mankind b)rescued mankind

So Jesus to rescue us had to be fully man to take our punishment on the cross, but to be able to survive the ordeal and rescue us, he needed to be fully God so as to rise again, as hell cannot contain someone perfect (and Jesus was perfect because he was fully God, who cannot sin). Jesus is called God's Son because to come to earth, he neded to be conceived as a human, but if a human conceived him, he would contain mankind's sin, so God the Spirit placed Jesus inside Mary's womb (Matthew 1:18,20) as a fetus, and so Jesus was a perfect human being-both fully God and fully man.
