Did you study American History? Maybe your daughter can remind you that the government you were fighting for was founded by men working to fight injustices such as TAXATION WITHOUHT REPRESENTATION....
Also, many times LEGAL permanent residents are not able to take the citizenship oath because one cannot take those steps necessary to becoming a citizen while they are out of the country serving this country. They may have begun the naturalization process but are limited by where the military has sent them.
Just some things to think about.
Show you?? http://www.usatoday.com/news/world/iraq/2003-04-08-noncitizen-usat_x.htm
Here is the beginning paragraph:
Patrick O'Day was born in Scotland. Francisco Martinez Flores was born in Mexico. Neither were U.S. citizens, but they died together in Iraq as U.S. Marines.
If you are a citizen, you know less about this country than many non citizens, which is a shame.
You all obviously don't know what you are talking about. These non-citizens are tax payers and many of the men and women fighting right now in Iraq are also non-citizens.
Perhaps you didn't know that!! KSTP chooses not to let us know that because they are against this bill, too.
The bill is not asking for illegal immigrants to have the right to vote, just those permanent residents who pay taxes and are required to register for selective service.
