Posted in What to wear for PE on 2004-02-22 23:54:04

Thats what I've always done, and its mostly worked, although teachers do sometimes decide to change the lesson at the last minute, but at least most people have the wrong kit then. Most people tend to have a separate bag for PE kit anyway, and usually leave it in the form room depending on which lesson PE is, and anyway, with PE clothes being pretty light weight they tend to fold up pretty easily (or scrunch up after the lesson).

I think it may seem a lot to carry, but I'd assume that girls would know what sport they were doing and bring the appropriate clothing.

I think just wearing a leotard is a nice, simple solution, though I'm not sure whether girls nowadays would go for it.

Posted in Death Penalty YES or NO? on 2003-12-16 23:19:21

I think that in most cases the death penalty is the easy way out, and in certain cases such as terrorists can make people marters (look at the reactions of the bali bombers when told they were to be executed). Its far better to put them in prison for a long time to think about what they have done. Under extream circumstances where they are a danger to society even whilst in prison (such as if the escape or endanger prison workers or other inmates), or preventing this would require lots of expensive security the death penalty may be the only option but should only be able to be autherised by the government (who should be working for the people). When it comes to the issue of overcrowding, their are many people in prision who don't need to be as they are no danger to society or security (either personal, national or businesses) if not locked up, and a good fine or other none prision sentence should be sufficient punishment and act as a deterent to both them and others.

========== In Reply To ========== In case you haven't noticed, Bush, Ashcroft & company have already suspended the Constitution & Bill of Rights. Frightfully (for the World, not just the U.S.A.) most Americans are in denial re this & ignorantly support it just to selfishly protect their money & their property-- just like the nice & educated German middle-class did when they voted Hitler into power... I'm glad I'm old; hopefully I'll die before it really gets bad as I don't have the money to go live elsewhere...

Although I live in the UK I still find this very worrying as currently where Bush goes Blair seems to follow. I think the big test of what is to come will be next year with the presidential elections, and in 2005 with the Uk general election. If the people are stupid enough to vote these power hungry self centred people back into power our freedom is lost. Oh well, we could always move to Iraq ;)

Posted in Lowering the Drinking Age to 18 on 2003-12-09 16:57:08

I'm not sure about the situation in the US, but here in the UK we have some of the strictest alcohol laws in europe (although still not as strict as in the US) and their is a major drinks problem with young people in their late teens and early 20s who can legally buy alcohol. In places like France where rules are much more relaxed and drinking alcohol is normal from a young age these problems barely exist. Many young people don't get their first taste of alcohol until they go to a club with their mates, perhaps for their 18th birthday, and drink uncontrolled until they are sick or basically collapse. They then continue to do this regualrly. I had my first taste of alcohol when I was about 10 and hated it so much I didn't go near the stuff again until a few years ago (i'm 19 now), and this was with my parents aproval. Although I can't admit to never getting drunk i've never been so drunk i've been i'll and its been on a very small number of occasions (new year etc). I even have to admit to buying alcohol underage when i was 17 and sitting in a park bandstand drinking it, but we only had one bottle each and I don't think any of us actually got drunk. Overall the more you prevent people from doing stuff, the more entricing it makes it for them.

I know one boy who has a really girly voice, and quite posh with it. We all make fun of him for it, especially as he's totally straight but sounds more gay that a gay boy we know, but only in a friendly joking way. It doesn't bother me though or any of the others though, and we are all strange in our own ways anyway. I also know a few girls that have really low voices and sound like boys.
