whelp first of all in our home there was no hittiing punching kicking, or anything between our kids, that would not be permitted, it was the bickering back and forth and on and on that brought us to this. second of all, we only spanked maybe three times in the few months after we started this routine,we haven't spanked in well over a year for this behavior, because they came up with different ways to get their aggressions out. they TALK to each other now and don't argue, i assure you we have a VERY loving and nerturing household, and things go very smoothly around here, also the kids are each other's best friends and i'm SO happy we did this a year ago. as for your comment on birth conrol, first off it's none of your business BUt if you must know, 5 of our children are from previous marriages BOTH of us were widowed and we actually met in beareavment meetings= } and then we decided to have a child of our own which turned out to be twins, a boy and a little girl....as for that comment it was uncalled for...have a great day Karla========== In Reply To ========== I think part of what mcgann is saying is that it would not be fair if one child does not mind getting spanked himself in order to get a sibling in trouble, which is a good point.

That whole last message just makes me so angry. It's true that the initators of the fight may learn to control themselves eventually, and those who react back may slow down in their reactions, but it is still SO UNFAIR. Someone could throw things at people for an hour and get a deserved spanking and someone else could have PMS and just reply rudely after an hour of taunting and both get a bare bottom hard spanking? You may finally control the instigators but at the cost of abusing other innocent people. This sucks as a parenting method. How do you know in your heart that you are not being too hard on one of them? Why can't you talk it all out in a family meeting or something? I find this really unfair and disrespectful. Maybe it teaches the initiators to control themselves, but as the kid being picked on the most it either teaches them to join in fast and throw a few punches, they're getting spanked unjustly anyway, or that they deserve abuse and don't have a right to defend themselves. I just hated the indignity of being spanked for something I didn't do. If anything happened in our house and they didn't know who did it, everyone got spanked.
