I don't totally agree that government control of what people hear, see and read is not a conservative view. Typically it is the conservative right that attempts censorship of TV programs it considers too risque; it is the conservatives in congress that attempt laws criminalizing pornography etc. However, I will agree that it is the liberal side that favors political correctness of speech, so I guess in the end, the topic of the speech or expression is the deciding factor over which side wishes to censor it.
