How can there be a "Best Musicians Ever" poll, and especially one that includes a category about piano playing rock musician, that does not mention Billy Joel. If he were included in the vocals and piano category, he'd be at the top. He is one of the rock industry's most revered songwriters, piano players, and vocalists. He's one of our living legends that has shaped the industry for decades!

Posted in What Do You Know About Jehovah's Witnesses on 2008-07-21 18:26:49

Come to think of it, I don't have a problem with the Jehovah Witnesses coming up with dates 50 or 100 years ago. It seems to me that the only people upset about that are ones that are former disgruntled JWs and got disappointed. I think it's good that there's actually a religion that has tried to get the date right, but admits when they're wrong. I stopped going to my church because my pastor told things that werent true and even admitted it!! but said that he can't change doctrines that have been taught for centuries. I have friends who are JWs, and they all have told me that the date is unknown, so i dont know that its fair to say they think they're prophets. Bringing up the past isn't fair either, if they've fixed what was wrong is how I feel. This all reminds me of Thomas Edison. I did a research thesis on him in a college class I had recently. Did you know he tried to to perfect (not invent) the light bulb over 60 times?!! And each time, he had an investor who funded his research. 60 times!! Most would have given up. But this guy (forgot his name!) stuck it out. He knew Edison woudl get it eventually, because he was a brilliant scientist--he tried things out and learned from mistakes, like all good scientists do. So, just because somebody got something wrong in the past, doesnt mean they should be disregarded. I'm sure that investor is glad he stuck with Edison.... anyway, I'mnot a JW , but that's my 2 cents!

Posted in Christmas - a Christian festival, or a pagan one? on 2008-01-21 17:10:44

This is all very interesting. It prompted me to do some research. I must say, I'm shocked at what I discovered. Apparently, the Christian church incorporated pagan traditions into the celebration so as to attract the Druids and other such Pagan groups, most likely to increase membership to the Church. I find what they did to be repulsive, and it makes the Church at that time seem very hypocritcal. I have always loved Christmastime, but this really has put a damper on it. I have to think of how God feels about us taking part in something that he obviously was against from the outset. And now I'm finding it really has nothing to do with Jesus, it makes me upset. I'm going to talk to the pastor at my church, because I would be surprised if he doesn't know about these origins. But what turns my stomach is why we as paying paritioners and loyal members aren't made aware. I got into a little debate with a guy I work with about Christmas a few months back who's one of the Jehovah Witnesses, and I feel stupid now, because everything he was saying is totally true. Go figure....

Uhhh, are we forgetting somebody here? Philip Rivers! Have you not SEEN his body? Obviously not, or he'd be on that list. Jake Delhomme is missing, too. But, Tom Brady is still the hottest!

This was the episode with the super-famous/super-hilarious, "$%!@ In A Box", also the Target skit where Justin flexes his biceps and pouts his lip.
