- Should "under God" be in the Pledge?
- 2006-02-07 21:31:55
See the problem with your theory is that the minute that we start to give special privilages and rights to the minorities and as soon as we take rights away from the majorities we begin to discriminate against the majority. And isn't that just as bad as discrimination against the minorities? People may think that by saying "under god" in the pledge that christians are forcing their beleifs on athiests. However children are not required to say those twoo small words. They can be silent through that part of the pledgee if they wish. But now lets look at it form the other direction. Christian children are forced to learn about evolution.. somthing that is against their religion. And in their siuation they cannot just "be slent". They must take an active role in STUDYING this thing that is against their religion. They have to take tests on it and discuss it in class. And if they don't their are repurcussions. Bad grades and discipline. They cannot omit from school what they don't beleive in. Athiests can. NOw tell me How is that fair? And you also said that athiests shouldn't be the only ones to make sacrifices... what else have athiests had to comprimise? Because to me... this world seems tailor made to the athiest.... what more do you want?
I agree!!! Bravo to you for pointing out the incredible change that puts in the rhythem of the pledge.
I am the creator of this poll and I was just wanting to ask that if you have a fewminutes, you write a comment on this poll and tell me what your veiws are on "under god" in the pledge and other religion in the Government. That would be great and help me out a ton. Thanks -Jacki
