Posted in Should prayer be allowed in public schools? on 2004-06-17 03:29:56

What's wrong with group prayer? It's not like we're forcing other students to join in. This is why I now go to a religious university. I find that there's far more religious tolerance there than there ever was at my public high scool (and I don't simply mean tolerance of Christianity either, I mean tolerance of all religions, regardless of whether they are right or wrong).

I believe that John was simply stating things in the best way that he possibly could, for much of what he was seeing was either in a future he had no understanding (for all we know the beast could be a corporation, or the mark of the beast could be a barcode or a microchip) or simply that which is infinite (such as the imagery of God). I also consider the possibility that much of what John saw was simply God trying to show John a prophecy through symbolism and imagery.

However, I do believe that there will be an antichrist, there will be a rapture, there will be a tribulation, and there will be the return of Christ. The order of events is debatable, but that's another story.

Posted in teaching creationism in public schools on 2004-06-17 03:05:47

Although I am a creationist/evolutionist hybrid, I agree. They should all be taught as theories because that's what they are. Furthermore, this will help avoid intolerance issues because it will leave the students free to believe as they find themselves convicted, rather than having students feel as if they have to believe one particular theory just so that they can do well on their assignments.

========== In Reply To ========== I couldn't answer this poll because it doesn't really describe my beliefs. If I answer that I think creationism should be taught, does that mean that's the only thing that should be taught? A few years ago I learned about this stuff in 10th grade (in a public school). We learned about different theories as to how the earth came about. We had darwinism, the big band theory, the primordial soup theory (or whatever), and we also had the divine creation theory. Nothing should be taught as fact in school unless we can prove it as fact. So creationism should not be taught as a fact, but as a theory along with the other theories.
