The fact is that both sides of politics are guilty of this sort of pandering. During Clinton's presidency, there was just as much double standards going on. The problem is that America appears like the ultimate hypocrite on the world stage: preaching free trade and then doing the opposite back home. It gives the rest of the world a nice opportunity to ignore any pressure to embrace free trade. If the USA doesn't do it, then why should anyone else?

I grew up in a rural where in farm kids could get a license at 14. I got punished rarely but when it happened- my dad gave me the choice of a spanking or grounding where in I lost driving privilges.
