Yes. I was whipped at school too and I survived and grew up good. It was an era when teachers were able to get on with teaching, because we feared the inevitavle puishment if we messed about. I was once eating candy (in class (wine gums) when the teachers back was turned. Without even turning round he said "I shall cane you if I catch you eating in class again. I knew he meant me, and I knew he would.
If disruptive and disrespectful kids were paddled at school I think there wold be fewer of them. I learned quickly when pain was applied to my backside, and I think most boys would say the same.
At 14-16 I knew I was still getting paddled at home, and althoigh older kids(17-18) were seldom whipped at school, there was nothing that said they couldn't be. I think you grow out of being a kid who does the sort of thing that gets younger kids paddled. I think you should be paddled at home and school if it is deserved. But who decides?n
My school certainly thought my behavior merited cp. Funny thing is, it was always either unnecesarry or inappropriate when I was whpped- sometimes I hadn't even done anything, but there were many other times when I should have been whipped, but excaped even though I was caught (and more when I wasn't caught.)
But I was never dispuptive in class (I wouldn't have dared) or disrespectful to teachers (likewise) (Well, I was a little bit once, and I was punished)
