Why did people choose what they did for question number two? I find it odd to believe that people would prefer spending years of their life in a jumpsuit...

I feel that the jumpsuits are meant as punishment and to make the inmates feel less than they are in front of guards and visitors. As inmates are not put to work much anymore on the state level, the coveralls do not really serve a good industrial function and as a cost cutting measure, are really not much cheaper than the old standard issue denims which are somewhat more comfortable and less demeaning to wear. It seemed that Iowa is the only state still following this code, look up Iowa prison industries to see what they sell...

I personally wear a pair of dockers, a belt, no underwear, and a polo-shirt to bed every night. Are there any parents who make their children wear day clothing to bed to keep them warm or disciplined?

The uniform should not cost alot, should be easy to maintain and be quite durable, but should also be comfortable (i.e. decent blue jeans and strong shirts, no coveralls/jumpsuits over a naked body). I would personally prefer a modern British prison uniform, which I would also sleep in, and would accept the fact that non-accidental soilings would force me to wear it for a week without laundry and being placed in a solitary dark cell.
