"people used to believe the world was flat" sorry but you are wrong here - actually this is a misconception which became popular in Victorian times - Victorians used to joke that people used to think the world was flat and laugh about how stupid primitive people were. It just wasn't true - no one actually thought the world was flat - not the ancient Greeks whose development of geometry was based on a spherical globe, not the Vikings who knew the world was round because of their well documented observations of the curvature of the earth and the fact from land, that the last part of a ship to disappear was the top of a mast and from a ship that the last part of the land to disappear was the mountain tops.

"they thought the Earth was the centre of everything" sorry this was mistaken christians who thought that the world was the centre of everything and supressed the scientists who said otherwise. Scientists have for centuries argued that the earth circled the sun and the sun was only one star in a universe of stars. Sadly religion got in the way and delayed all progress with their blind adherence to obviously wrong beliefs - such as the earth being the centre of the universe.

Science develops and grows with discoveries. The discovery of Neptune and Pluto were made because of science - mathematics predicted where they must be and where they actually were before there were telescopes powerful enough to see them. Science wins again!! Science is not a belief. Science is the investigation of all things and an attempt to understand what they are and why. Religion diminishes with each discovery - why else did we have such reactions to Gallileo? Religion is a cop out.

No, what science is is based on incontrivertable proven fact. Religion is based on belief and not proven in any way - not provable in any way either. You really do not ubnderstand that science is what is provable and only what is provable
