Does War Fuel the Medical Industry, and Vice Versa?

Thinking about the Vietnam Vets in movies like 'Born on the Forth of July', it seems quite likely the two are tied together...
Perscription medications are mostly made of oil based products, and so is over-the-counter asprin. Combine this with the fact that more vets will "live" through the war than ever before, and you have a recipe for thousands of new "users" upon their return from Iraq. Since the medical industry is dependent on unhealthy citizens to exist in the first place, doesn't this seem like a conspiracy to add patients?
