Who wears a watch anymore?

Yes, I have a watch, and I wear it proudly! It's an item of luxury and prestige.

I have a watch, but I don't wear it much, cause none of my friends do, and I'm afraid of facing ridicule.

I don't own a watch cause most of them are too expensive these days. If I could afford it, I'd love to have one.

I've never owed a watch, or...I haven't had one for a long time. I just check the time on my cell phone or iPod.

Have you noticed that over the past...say, ten years, with the increasing popularity of these devices, that hardly anyone looks at, or even owns a wristwatch? All they have to do is glance at their device; it's got a built-in clock! And if they do have a watch, it's mostly for show.

Yes, you are so right. I don't look at--heck, don't even have one--my watch anymore, and I don't know anyone who does. Electronic devices are everywhere. Not only phones and digital music players, but there's a clock on your cable TV box, your computer, your microwave oven, even in your car. You can call up a special number on your phone and get a recorded message that states the local time. There are clocks up on the wall of almost every shop and office building downtown, or you can simply ask a stranger on the street for the time. Who needs a watch these days?

Yes,, I know, but I WANT to have a watch! Besides being nice to look at, I like the convenience of being able to tell the time in an instant glance. And I don't feel like constantly turning on my phone; it uses up the battery. Anyway, some watches are very nice. They're coming out with new styles and designs all the time; it's like wearing art! And another thing: because they're not popular anymore, they reflect a feeling of nostalgia, years gone by before the age of computers and cell phones.
