Should we drill for more oil?

With the highest gas prices since the Arab Oil embargo of the 1970s, do you think that drilling for more American oil is the solution or part of the solution?
Do you think that drilling for more American oil will help solve the oil crisis and our energy problem?
Yes. That will be the cornerstone of getting gas prices down.
Yes, but its only a small part in the overall energy solution
No. It would only make things worse.
Should we drill in ANWAR, Alaska, provided it can be done in an enviornmentally responsible manner?
Yes. it would be foolish to ignore this huge oil desposit.
No. Drilling in ANWAR would be morally wrong.
Huge oil formations, known as oil shale are known to exist in the Dakotas? Should we attempt to recover the billions of barrels found there?
Yes. We need all the oil we can get with today's gas prices
No. Bill Clinton was right to declare these deposits off limits in 1996
What about offshore drilling?
Yes. I am for it
Yes, but only if the individual state governments approve
No. It would only lead to more greed and pollution
What about ethanal?
Good. This is a promising new energy source and deserves government funding.
Worth looking into but not with federal funding
Bad. Higher demand for corn means higher food prices both in the US and around the world.
What about other alternative fuel sources? If we could make oil and gas from garden scraps rivalling the output of Saudi Arabia, would this be a good thing or a bad thing?
Good thing. No more oil money to terrorist leaning nations and gas prices would be lower
Bad thing. People's incentive to drive less and use public transit more would be defeated.
Are higher gas prices in the US a good thing or a bad thing?
Bad thing. Are you kidding? Not only do I pay more to fill up my vehicle but everything on store slelves costs more do to increased shipping costs. It is hurting the working class esspecially.
Good thing. People are more enviornmentally responisible with these new higher prices. The US needs to learn to share it's wealth with other nations.
Is our dependency on foreign energy sources a good thing or a bad thing?
Bad thing, esspecially since most of the middle eastern countries are somewhat less than friendly to us. Oil money from the US often ends up in terrorist hands, such as Al Queda. Why find those who want to kill us?
Good thing. It helps restrain US imperialism and gives poor third world countries a bargaining chip with major western powers.
How should we live?
The cars and trucks we have now are fine, provided we have sufficent gas.
No. Trucks and SUVs should be banned for normal private ownership. Only 40 MPH plus cars and electric cars should be allowed.
Keep car ownership to a bare minimum. Only bikes, walking public transit, should be normally used in populated areas. Higher gas prices will hopefully bring about this change.
