Horse Racing(is it cruel)

After the death of filly Eight Belles after the Kuntucy Derby, the whole sport of horse racing is under question.

why is horsebackriding cruel?
it isn't
crops(whips) and spurs(the sharp things on the back of some riders heels)
because horses shouldn't be put throughhaving someone ride them

why is horseracing cruel?
because the horses start training at a very young age
because the horses are breed for only speed(so they can be very fragile)

lastly, I would like to state my opinion on all of this. I think that horseracing is cruel, because the horses are made to be fast, and not sturdy. If you look at them, their ankles are VERY thin compared to a normal horse(a horse that you could find at any old barn). I ride horses, and I do not think that horsebackriding in general is cruel. Some is. When I ride, I carry a crop, but hardly use it. I just lighly press it on the horses shoulder, so that they know that it is there. And horsebackriding does alot for people with disabilitys. Mental and physical.
