Driving Yourself To School - Cool or Not ?

My younger brother and me go to a private (Public) school in UK and, as I passed my driving test in May, I could drive myself and him each day if I had my own car, thus saving Mum or Dad a 30 mile round trip twice a day or more. Dad wants me not to drive but continue to be taken (he has use of a company car and driver, so does not have to actually drive us himself). I want a car of my own so my brother and me can be independant. What would your views be ?
