Recently there was a study that found that the reason for the sudden drop in crime occuring around 1990 was due to the legalization of abortion in 1973. The report claims that because so many poor mothers in 1973 had abortions, there are less poor males, which means ultimately that there are less males prone to crime and violence.

Does the report seem to be accurate?
Yes, if there are less poor males, there will be less people desperate for money, less males addicted to drugs, less males unhappy and motivated to improve their lives through crime, violence, and/or drug sales.
No, simply because many poor females in 1973 had abortions does not mean necessarily that those aborted males would grow to be violent criminals, or drug dealers. It is simply somehow a coincidence.
I am not sure. I really will have to do more research.
