People with disabilities are still discriminated against in the workplace, and 70% of people with disabilities cannot get work because of the prejudice of employers in thinking disabled means unable.
If you had a co-worker who appeared to have a disability, and other co-workers constantly ridiculed that employee and left him or her out of employee social activities, how would you respond?
Ignore the situation to keep from being a troublemaker.
Just as soon as you are out of earshot of other employees, tell the employee in question their rights are being violated, and they need to contact a Disability Rights Center or a local Independent Living Resource Center.
Join in on the ridicule
Keep a journal of the bad treatment and act as a witness for that employee even if it means you could lose your job for being a witness against your employer.
