The Big Bang Question

Currently this is the explanation of the Big Bang. Because we can meausre galaxies expanding from a central point, a big bang created the Universe and far away we can measure distant radiation that supposes that as the evidence of the explosion. Now, here's the tricky part. When asked, "What is the Big Bang expanding into as it expands." The answer given is 1.) the Big Bang is creating space and time as it expands 2.) we don't know. Here's where it gets a little trickier. The Big Bang occured 15 billion years ago. If asked, "What existed 16 billion years ago." The answer: 1.) a blank stare. 2.) a frown. 3.) I don't know.
In the ravenous and virtuous belief that one should always pursue the truth and one should always keep an open mind, I have become suspicious and I have come to highly question the theories and the concepts of the Big Bang theory. I want to know what you think. Please pick which one seems true.
The Big Bang is only an explanation of what is going on in our neighboring galaxies that we can measure. Outside that area is still a mystery.
The Big Bang is a total explanation of the creation of the entire universe and as it expands it is creating its own time and space for itself, there is nothing at all outside this expanding ball of energy, time and space.
I think that scientists have given their best guess, which has some holes and flaws but ultimately a Big Bang did occur. Yet that does not mean that everything was created by this Bang and possibly there were many Big Bangs all of which created something, but no one Bang created everything.
I need time to think. I am not sure.
