There are many methods of discipline. Spanking has gotten a bad rap, but it can be effective. And there are many other methods that IMO have been neglected. Please answer the following questions seriously.

What punishments do you consider appropriate for children?
Lecture alone (In this case do not make any other checks)

Writing lines or other boring chore
Loss of privileges
Take away a favorite toy or other thing the child values
Spanking by hand
Spanking with paddle or hairbrush

What is the most severe punishment that you would use with your children?

If a child refuses or attempts to refuse a punishment (for example, walks out on a lecture, refuses to go to her room, or tries to block a spanking), what do you do?
Give up and hope it goes better next time.
Try verbal persuasion.
Get compliance by any means necessary, including physical force/restraint.
Increase the severity of the punishment.
