Male Locker Room Inequality
You will notice a similar lack of privacy in men's dressing rooms, fitting rooms, and bathrooms. In department stores they usually have a section partitioned off and devoted to fitting rooms. This area often does not have a door, just an entrance, and inside there are divisions with doors or curtains for individuals to change in. You might notice that in the male changing area people are able to look through the opening and see a guy changing behind a flimsy curtain or something. You can't do this at the female fitting rooms, which are usually around a corner or something. You see the same type of inequalities in terms of privacy in bathrooms and locker rooms where people standing outside of them can see into the changing area when the door is opened. Women's bathrooms and locker rooms often have two doors to avoid this.
One might also notice mothers taking small boys into male changing areas clearly labled men. I know that with crazy child predators around its dangerous to send your kid in by himself, but I just feel uncomfortable getting naked two feet away from a woman I don't even know with nothing but the aforementioned skimpy curtain seperating us. What if junior decides to pull back the curtain? I just don't see the same thing flying in the women's changing area.
It really is true. Go to any major mall during the first 2 weeks before school starts. The dressing rooms are completley over run. You never see a guy in the girls dressing room, but the guy's dressing rooms basically become co ed. In the dressing rooms where there are closed stalls girls will actually line up in the dressing room to wait for a stall. I've come out of a stall and had a girl just shoulder right in past me. I've seen a girl get tired of waiting and just try on a shirt right out in the open. And I'm not too uptight about it, I'm no angel. But I really though it went too far one time. I was trying on a single pair of jeans and in the stall the mirror was missing, so I stepped out for a split second to look in the big mirror in the common room and a girl took my stall. My jeans were still in it, with my wallet and everything. So I knocked on the door and said my clothes were still in there, she opened the door with the front of her pants undone, she did say sorry really cute and handed me my jeans. But now what?? I had to change back into my jeans and nobody looked willing to give up a place in line for me to use a stall again. So I at least went to the corner of the common room took the store jeans off, and put mine on, in my underwear for a couple seconds in front of guys and girls.
