The Truth About The Left
Gary--much has been said about how Marxist/Leninism has influenced the mainstream Left...but are there distinctions to be made between John Kerry-types and French university students? How have the ideals of the left manifested themselves,in your view,to the extent that Americans need to beware of 'creeping socialism'?What does the American Left have to gain--even tactically,if they're in fact, that nihilistic--by emulating European totalitarians?
Dear Dave, I'm sorry but the poster you are trying to reach has disconnected himself... he does not answer infantile responses. If you feel I may be in error, please... hang up, and try your call later... booooop
Good questions, Dave. I'd say the days of "creeping" socialism are well over with and the left has progressed to a fever-pitch gallop. They (in Europe and America, as well as Canada and Australia and the socialist states of South America) are now engaged in a global effort to defeat capitalism that rivals the so-called "red-scare" of decades past. Part of this is due to the advent of the internet, which has enabled the dissemination of socialist, communist and jihadist propaganda on a scale that Goebels couldn't have dreamed of. Imagine what he would have done had the internet existed in 1939.
To be sure, the international left believes they are almost at a "tipping point," at which they can affect irreversible change on a global scale. To an extent, they're correct in their belief, but it's not too late to stop them.
As for the Kerrys and Clintons of America, they are not much unlike their counterparts in Europe. Several sources have pointed out that Hillary wants America remodeled in the mold of France or the Netherlands; i.e., a democratic socialist nation. Of course she has never publicly said so; she is careful to conceal (or attempt to conceal) her true agenda. What I find amusing is how this has backfired against her. Her pretense of being a hawk on Iraq, in an effort to make herself electable among conservatives and independents in '08 had the effect of angering her far-left base. Now she is attempting to backtrack and recapture the far-left, while at the same time pretending to be a moderate centrist. For more on Hillary and her liason with George Soros, you might want to read "The Shadow Party: How George Soros, Hillary Clinton and Sixties Radicals Seized Control of the Democratic Party," by David Horowitz and Richard Poe.
Is there any distinction to be made between any particular leftist factions or individuals? Not really. Though they may differ by degrees and in specific goals, they are all part of the same continuum of socialism and communism. By the way, the popular misconcpetion is that socialism and communism are either two different things or are different degrees of the same thing. The truth is that Marx said that socialism was merely a precursor to communism. Those who believe that socialism doesn't lead to communism or, more correctly, to totalitarianism are simply wrong.
Okay, lefties, feel free to jump right in and start dissecting and twisting my every word, in the belief that you are being witty and clever, when, instead, you are only showing your rank ignorance, incivility and complete denial of the facts. By the way, that reminds me of one question I forgot to include in the questionaire: how old are you? The answer is entirely relevent, as anyone of my generation knows. Those of you born between 1965 and 1970 have barely passable understanding of world events. Those of you born any later have been raised as wards of the leftist nanny state, fed a load of lies about the world by former-student-radicals-become-teachers. You have emerged, as John Houseman said in "The Paper Chase," with a skullful of mush.
GaryR53>>Good questions, Dave. [sniped for relevance]
GaryR53>>Part of this is due to the advent of the internet, which has enabled the dissemination of socialist, communist and jihadist propaganda on a scale that Goebels couldn't have dreamed of. Imagine what he would have done had the internet existed in 1939.
Shadowwatcher>>>I would eb far more inclined to consider just how badly his ideas and ideals would be slaughtered by the logic of people all over the world. The internet, while subject to spam and misleading bloggers such as yourself on occassion, would more likely have given people the world over [maybe even some in the germany of the time] the information, the ACTUAL information that he hid from the people he was manipulating.
Garyr53>>To be sure, the international left believes they are almost at a "tipping point," at which they can affect irreversible change on a global scale.
Shadowwatcehr>>See, there you go making the same extremist mistake people do on both sides of the Isle... failing to make a distinction between left and Extreme far left.. but [sigh].. go on...
GaryR53>>To an extent, they're correct in their belief, but it's not too late to stop them.
Shadowwatcher>>>Ah the old falsedilemma with a glimmer of hope if we just listen to you routine. Tell us something, did you think before you wrote this?
GaryR53>>As for the Kerrys and Clintons of America, they are not much unlike their counterparts in Europe.
Shadowwathcer>>>Well, sure, because what good is a false dilemma if you don't have villains to antaganize that false dilemma?
GaryR53>>Several sources
Shadowwatcher>>>Can you GET any vaguer?
GaryR53>>have pointed out that Hillary wants America remodeled in the mold of France or the Netherlands; i.e., a democratic socialist nation. Of course she has never publicly said so; she is careful to conceal (or attempt to conceal) her true agenda.
Shadowwatcher>>>Oh well, of course, cause it's all one big fat conspiracy right? Curse you conspirators!!!!
GaryR53>>What I find amusing is how this has backfired against her. Her pretense of being a hawk on Iraq, in an effort to make herself electable among conservatives and independents in '08 had the effect of angering her far-left base. Now she is attempting to backtrack and recapture the far-left, while at the same time pretending to be a moderate centrist.
Shadowwatcher>>>Actually, I kind of agree with you, but not for the reasons you might think. I agree that she has gone a little towards center and that's a good thing, but what I disagree with is that the Far left has any relevance to anyone, as much as the far right has. However, IF the far left gains a foot hold, will only be because the far right screwed up soooo badly. It has nothing to do with ANY individual person, clinton, bush or otherwise. And if you think Centrists, moderastes and independants are fooled by any one person, boy are you in for a shock. We votre the issues, not the parties or their candidates; not even this election.
GaryR53>>For more on Hillary and her liason with George Soros, you might want to read "The Shadow Party: How George Soros, Hillary Clinton and Sixties Radicals Seized Control of the Democratic Party," by David Horowitz and Richard Poe.
Shadowwatcher>>>Sounds a great deal like an opinion book rather than a history book or reference book, but why not?
GaryR53>>Is there any distinction to be made between any particular leftist factions or individuals? Not really. Though they may differ by degrees and in specific goals, they are all part of the same continuum of socialism and communism.
Shadowwatcher>>>Okay, why not? In that case I consider you a crusader and since the crusades were a horrible example of christian ignorance rahter than christian intelligence you must be ignorant. My what a comfy position to take. That means I don't have to make a distinction between christian child molesters and christian paritioners speaking to my child about god. I can just condemn them all to the same fact and motivations.... Mmmm, nah, on second thought my brain and my conscience won't allow it.
GaryR53>>By the way, the popular misconcpetion is that socialism and communism are either two different things or are different degrees of the same thing. The truth is that Marx said that socialism was merely a precursor to communism. Those who believe that socialism doesn't lead to communism or, more correctly, to totalitarianism are simply wrong.
Shadowwatcher>>>A well thought out opinion so far substantiated by vagueries. Good on ya.
GaryR53>>Okay, lefties, feel free to jump right in and start dissecting and twisting my every word, in the belief that you are being witty and clever, when, instead, you are only showing your rank ignorance, incivility and complete denial of the facts.
Shadowwatcher>>>Sticks and stines, monkey; sticks and stones.
GaryR53>>By the way, that reminds me of one question I forgot to include in the questionaire: how old are you?
Shadowwatcher>>>33, but my IQ and knowledtge of histry makes me about 75... why do you ask you relic of a paranoid and bygone era?
GaryR53>>The answer is entirely relevent, as anyone of my generation knows. Those of you born between 1965 and 1970 have barely passable understanding of world events.
Shadowwatcher>>>Cause they've all been brainwashed right? Microwaves being drilled into their brains sending subliminal messages? What if they got their tinfoil hats on in time? Well, then they're just stupid huh? Not capable at all of learning for themselves?
GaryR53 puts his foot Soooo far in his mouth that he has to spread his cheeks to tie his shoes>>Those of you born any later have been raised as wards of the leftist nanny state, fed a load of lies about the world by former-student-radicals-become-teachers. You have emerged, as John Houseman said in "The Paper Chase," with a skullful of mush.
Shadowwatcher>>>Oh but you sheltered-religiously-raised- zealots with no knowledge of moderation have a much better grasp on things? Right? Sure why not? Just ask Rev. Haggard [Haggerty?]. The right is a far better place to be; alongside those like Pat Robertson and Jimmy Swaggart, And Jim Baker. Oh and George W. Christ. WEll gee now that you put it like that sure attempting to use my age as a crippling tool, how noble, how mature, how ... godlike of you. What an excellent group of examples of what the right wing stands for. But what would I know? Right? History and social psychology being among my favorite subjects in school along with English, social studies and law. But hey, what the hell you think I'm a boob, therfor, I must be.
Grow up you crotchety ol has been [more likely never was].
GaryR53>>John Houseman said in "The Paper Chase," with a skullful of mush
Shadowwatcher>>>I seem to remember A comedic impersonator named Rich Little, in A Night of 42 Stars, impersonating John Houseman talking about how republicans won their elections the old fashioned way... They STOOOOLE it. Actually, I don't remember how the skit went... I think ti may have been along the lines of what if Johnhouseman was one of the passengers on the airplane in the MOVIE airplane, and talking about the chicken or the fish in which the chicken was made the old fashioned way.. they Buuuurned it.
