Iraq sanctions killed more than the war

I have been for invading Iraq since it was proposed by President Clinton in 1998. I believe it was necessary because the UN sanctions were responsilbe for the deaths of hundreds of thousand innocent Iraqi's. While Saddam stole funds from the misnamed, corrupt oil for food program to fund his military and his extravagent lifestyle. According to the UN in 1989 before the gulf war approx. 2% of Iraqi children died before the age of two. By 2001 (after 10 years of sanctions but before the war began) that number was up to 10%. That is why I was in favor of Clinton's belief that we needed to invade Iraq, and Bush's actions in Iraq. That is also why I am opposed to the new sanctions that have been passed this week against Iran.
