Hitler, the Natzis and their crimes
The Holocaust couldn't have happened without a number of factors coming together. Pre-existing Anti-Semitism in Germany. The Depression. Hyperinflation. The Treaty of Versailles. An evil, but extremely chrasimatic leader. Even then, that wasn't enough. The idea for the Final Solution had to be proposed. That wasn't Hitler's idea. I can't remember whether it was Himmler's or Eichmann's.
I consider Hitler responsible, but not solely responsible. Hitler was just the leader of a group of like-minded men. I don't think he was more evil than Eichmann or Himmler just because he happened to outrank them. Arguably Himmler and Eichmann were involved in the Holocaust in a much more hands-on way, while Hitler simply let it happen with his taciot approval. They were all scum.
I would suggest including the Allies among the guilty. The Treaty of Versailles was so humiliating and put Germany in such a bind that the conditions for a Holocaust to happen were all there. We have the French to thank for the harshness of Versailles. And for World War II, some of the blame should fall on the UK and France for the Munich Agreement and letting the Anschluss happen, and then for the Phony War. They let Hitler get away with way too much just because they were scared of him.
I really don't see how the Poles or the Baltic People, or especially not the Jews can be held repsonsible.
