Great Poll

Janice Sanford,

Your poll questions are right on target. The media and courts should have hammered Michael's adulterly harder. It was clear he had moved and was inapporiate to determine the fate of Terri regardless of what claims he had to her wishes.

Yes, we certainly need stronger laws to protect our disabled. From what we have seen in the Schiavo case, disabled people are afforded almost no protection from decisions made their guardians. To get an idea of this consider this one disheartening fact:

Judge Whittemore denied the Schindler's count that Terri's death process consituted cruel and unusual punishment under the 8th admendment because Terri was not a criminal. This absolutely utterly mindboggling when one considers that the courts have been recently entertaining notions that lethal injection is cruel and unusual punishment; an act far more peaceful and quick than an 14 day starvation and dehydration death process in which an extensive exit protocol had to created to deal with Terri's discomfort and pain.

The death of Terri Schiavo is a good example of why everyone who believes in equality among mankind should band together to insure that the disabled human being has the same rights as do the rest of us. Thank you for your comment.
