Psychologists' facts on RACISM in relation to your views.
I think the questions in this thread are somewhat skewed.
My belief is that racism is not an either/or thing, but a matter of degree.
Many people operate on two tracks, and can be very cordial, even friends, with people who belong to a population group of which they are wary on a grand scale.
Cultural differences lead to prejudices, particularly when one culture is perceived to be inferior to another. The only way to reduce racism is to narrow those cultural differences.
I don't agree with the premise that all cultures are equal. Certainly, the underclass culture is not equal to the middle class culture, given the results it produces. I also think that in a lot of ways, the middle class culture is superior to the upper class culture.
We have to stop defining culture in terms of racial groups. The ironic thing is that it is those who claim to be most opposed to racism who are most insistent on defining culture by race. This only guarantees the perpetuation of racism.
I couldn't agree more. Your response hit the nail on the head perfectly.
Enlightening comment. Thank you. How is the poll skewed? Also by your argument that classes are superior or inferior to each other, am I correct in understanding that you think that wealth can erase racism? Thank you for you comments.
You're welcome.
