The Catholic Church

I am over 50, remember the Latin Mass and while I accept that many people apparently enjoy it, I don't understand why.

Last week I happened to attend a Spanish Mass and had a hard time praying along with the Mass. Perhaps if I read along in English, like I used to do with Latin it would be ok.

Nevertheless, why should the priest be speaking in a language I don't understand why I pray along in mine?

Perhaps it is only a matter of people wanting a ceremony that seems more formal and spritual.

Mass has been said in Latin since before the Great Schism (in 1054 Anno Domini). It is simply a matter of tradition. Also, many in the early Church understood and spoke Latin. I like the Latin Mass because I have spoken Latin in my household for as long as I can remember (that might help).

You are the delusional one to believe that Catholicism was founded on death and tourture. You're probably some uneducated fool who only looks at the bad publicity that the Church gets(i.e. The Church molestation scandel and the Inqusition). The Church does many more good things than bad. You're sort of right about the death and tourture, though, but it was the early Church members who were being killed by the JEWS and ROMANS. The first martyr of the Church was St. Stephen. Stephen was stoned to death quite mercilessly by the Jewish Pharisees. Also, every Apostle except the Apostle whom Jesus loved, John, was martyred in a very brutal fashion, such as flaying(skinning alive) and crucifixion.

Its not founded on death, opression, or anything elso so depressing. Its founded on the sacrifice God made out of LOVE (religion of love) and the mirical of Jesus raising from the dead!! Do a little more reserch.
