The big "Why do you need God? poll
I think this was a good poll, except some of the answers to the question were not an accurate depiction of what I believe. For example, when asked "Do you believe something bad will happen if you stop praying" I answered yes. I don't necessarily believe that I will fall off a cliff without seeing it or suddenly come ill (although it could happen...), I do belive that something bad would happen if I stopped communicating to God through prayer. I would be opening myself up to sin and demonic/satanic influence. That is certainly bad, although probably no the "bad" stuff most poll takers thought about. Overall, though, this was a thoughtful poll that tries to gauge peoples level of "religiosity", spirituality, or commitment to God.
I agree with you. God isn't "out to get us", but He does want us to have a relationship with Him. If we are not praying to God then we are not having a relationship with Him. When we are not in fellowship with Him we can't expect that we will be in the will of God. It is when we are out of the will of God that the bad things really happen because being out of the will of God is the worst thing for a believer!
don't forget those who need to be prayed for.
I disagree with all of you. I do have a religion, I am Greek Orthodox in fact. But I am not a very religious person. Occasionally before I got to bed I will pray a short prayer, but that's it. I am not a bad person. Just because I don't pray very often does not mean I will do bad things. This is my view of religion: Religion isn't suppose to tell you right from wrong. You have to decide that on your own. You control your life. I see religion as a path so you can do this. Religion is for hope and faith. Some people
unfortunately, use religion as a punishment. My Dad's Friend has kids where there mother says that religion is good for telling the kids what's right. How does she do this? She tells them that if you don't follow the Commandements you r going too go to hell, or something like that, I dont remember her exact words. She uses it as a threat. But, I did enjoy this poll. I did think it was interesting, and took my time answering these questions.
