Nudist Youth Camps

As recently as the 1970s it was common for boys at the YMCA and many junior high and high schools to be required to swim nude. Indeed, back to the 1950s, women coaches would often supervise the boy's swim. It was not any more controversial than a female doctor or nurse examining a male patient. Today, we've gone too far with the personal privacy issue and teen boys no longer even shower after PE. They make their moms drive them home from sports practice to shower in the privacy of their own homes. Their feelings of guilt, shame and body image obsession will make their adult intimate encounters miserable. Any who engage in careers that involve a sacrifice of privacy, such as military service, will not be able to deal with it. I certainly think that children of the same sex receive invaluable benefit from non-sexual and routine experience with nudity. As children develop physically it is conforting for most to see how they compare with their peers. Yes, it might be a little unconfortable for the "late bloomers" or children who have weight problems, but the former will catch up eventually and the latter may have an incentive to deal with their problem. As for nudity with the opposite sex, I see no problem with this in a well-structured environment. Sexual activity among teens in a naturist camp is probably far less likely than in any back-seat-of-the-car or play-while-the-parents-are-away scenario that occurs in "nice households" ten thousand times a day.

Readers of the National Geographic know that in the past people all oer the world lived without clothes. Humans evolved in a clotheless environment. Children should be able to be nude with proper supervision.
