Actually, I believe that both science and Theology go hand in hand without much contradition.
If you look at theological writings, you discover that historical time began when mankind left the garden of Eden, which supports a young earth historically. But No one knows how long mankind was in the garden. Since the Bible only devotes a couple pages to the Garden, we tend to imply that it must have not been a long stay, but in fact, it very well could of been Millions of years.
Science dates the earth as OLD, which very well can be, if mankind was in the garden all that time, and was kicked out in the last 6,000 years.
Think of it this way, dinasaurs could have roamed the earth, and the great ice age could have destroyed them, while all along Adam and Eve were safe, living in the Garden of Eden in Iraq.
When mankind was kicked out of Eden because of Adam's sin, Eden was sealed from them ever returning, and then when God sent the great flood, Eden was completely destroyed.
I really don't see any contradiction between science and theology.
The earth is Old, but man's history on the earth is Young.
