WHY ARE PEOPLE RELIGIOUS?

People are religious for all these reasons and probably an hundred more. How about going to church because you married someone who does?

Perhaps the word "religious" should be clarified? In this poll, does it just mean performing the rituals of a religion, or sincerely believing in a god? A person who believes deeply in God can never set foot in a church and still be considered religious. Likewise, a person who attends church weekly, is baptized, receives communion, but doesn't believe in a god, I wouldn't consider to be religious. That's what I am, because I believed in God as a child, then the belief just went away, but I continue to go to church with my mother and sing in the choir. You can marry a religious person and join them in performing the rituals, but if it isn't based on belief, then I don't think you're religious.
