Handicapped Parking

Pet gripe

Posted by Pa on 1999-07-17 06:37:39

The car has a sticker, there may be a handicapped person in the car, but the driver is o.k. The passanger stays in the car while the driver goes in. Hummm, I do not see this as a proper use of the system. Dito for those who use the car and have no problems themselves, they are abusing the system.

As long as the Disabled person is IN the car, you have no gripe!!!

The placcard is to be used ONLY if the driver is disabled himself----OR, if the Disabled individual is a passenger in the car.

My gripe is people who use the Placcard, knowing that the person for which it was intended is NOT in the car with them. These are the people who have NO RIGHT using the Placcard.

The problem is--the POWERS THAT BE, hand out these Placcards like they are toothpicks, to be given to anyone that requests them, whether they have a note from their Doctor, or not. And even if they DO have a note--how many Doctors shell out notes like they are candy??

What we need are stiffer regulations, governing these doctors, and the POWERS THAT BE, so that they can NOT just give the Placcard out to just ANYONE!!!!!!

ARE YOU LISTENING, WASHINGTON???????

Here's a pet gripe of MINE: Handicapped people in wheelchairs rolling around the parking lots giving tickets to handicapped parking violators. Doesn't this amount to travelling from one end of the parking lot to the other several times?

And if that's the case, why do these people need the reserved parking?

Personally, I miss the good old days before "mandatory" handicapped parking and speed bumps. When did our country become so disabled? You'd think from looking at the average parking lot that 50% of the people in this country are crippled.
