Should Black Americans be paid reparations for slavery?

OK How about this. If someone was a slave, they should be able to sue the thier owner.Actually, paying someone for actions taken against them when it was legal is unconstitutional, as slavery was at the time. It is called "expost facto" or after the fact. You cannot sue someone for committing a crime AFTER it has become a crime if they did it before it was a crime. Therefore, if payments were made we would be devaluing the very document that sets humankind from being inslaved. No doubt the African Americans ARE treated like second class citizens in this country. However, it is not money that is the problem, it is a lack of education and respect for fellow humans. If we are to violate the constitution and force people to pay for the sins of dead relitives, do we really think that we could buy our way out that crime if we were gulity and had to pay. How would this be different than a millionaire paying a million dollars to the survivors of a person they killed and walking away guilt free?

Im a black female, I dont think slave reparations are necessary, I dont agree with how racist some of the commnents are but I agree. I t was a long time ago. I think people need to stop hiding the fact that slavery happened because, modern day whites had nothing to do with it.

I think this way because Its important for all of us to learn from the past. I think there is a serious problem with some Black people (not all) who feel like the world owes them something.

I believe in hardwork. Even though I know the world favors White people and yes.....even I have been called the n word by a backwoods White person who grew up in ancent ignorance. I still work hard and believe that Black people would be much better off focusing on the future and creating businesses and stop complaining. Its so annoying.

For all of you people that clump all Black people together regardless of race or nationality, you are very narrowminded. Not all Black people are African American. And not all African Americans feel the stereotypical way projected with our hands out and complaining about everything.

Shame on you for believing in such lies. I judge everyone as an individual, please dont get caught up in making collective accusations against people whos only commonality is skincolor. You dont like it when ignorant blacks complain against all whites. I dont like it when Ignorant whites complain against all blacks. Two wrongs dont make a right.
