Would You Tip Off the Police?
In almost every case I wouldsay nothing if the person was not harming other people- especially vulnerable people. If the individual was abusing people-- a real threat to others safety. I would beleive the greater godd would be to inform police. The hardest case is the presumed incestuous relationship by teens next door. I would not go to police-- I would either tell the parents exactly what I saw before I told them what I heard- I would weigh very carefully the creditabliity of the person speaking. Or I might go to my clergyman for advice on that one. As to gambling not paying a gas tax -or even the alleged call girl-- I would mind my own business. Always ask yourself-- Am I doing this out of anger or some odd curiosity-- or am I truly protecting anothers safety and well being.
i generally agree - can't see much reason to do anything with the knowledge...
but i'm not sure how i would find out about all of this without being terribly nosy - and how'd i get such odd neighbors? also, some of the questions had answer choices which involved dealing with the the neighbor in a direct way, but not enough -- for instance, the drunk driver.... i'm not interested in getting him arrested at this point, but i don't want him to hit the call-girl's kids on their way home from school either...
A few days ago some $%!@er made a bomb and blew up a toilet. So the cops came by and started questioning people.
My brother was seen talking to a cop and is now in danger from both sides.
One side- The guy who bombed the toilet may try to kill him (even though he didn't tell the cops anything)
The other side- The cops think my brother did it (because the bomber told a ton of people he did).
If you're going to inform about a crime, do it from a safe location.
