Do You believe In Some Kind Of Higher Power or God?

That is shocking that more people do not believe than people who do. Even as science progresses, we find that the idea of a Higher Consciousness or God is not incompatible with the universe at all.

I personally DO believe in God but am unusual in that it is only because of my own experience. I was not trained in any religion. However I have seen the results directly of prayer.

It is unfortunate, but I feel that the reason many people do not believe in God is actually more because of religion itself, that is too pushy or purports absurd notions. Belief and faith can go on in real world terms inside one's own heart and mind. All the parts in spiritual doctrines that talk about the powers of faith and love are basically the same and echo universal truth. I would take all of that and forget about the political side of religions, and stop haggling about whether Noah's ark happened.

I just find the idea of a god - any god - impossible.

I'll have to second BJake--the idea of god is as relevant to me as the flying spaghetti monster or the three-hundred-foot-tall ogres who inhabit Mars. One can invent any mythical being and say "prove it doesn't exist". The fact of the matter is, there are billions of things you can invent that can't be disproved. But that's precisely why I don't believe in any of them.
