Gays-myth and reality.
Hi Skyfox:
Thanks for the thoughtful comments. I was expecting a whole bunch of reactionary, immature comments to this poll, and have been extremely pleasantly surprised at the very intelligent and well thought out responses that happened instead.
I certainly look forward to the day when homosexuality is no longer an issue. Luckily where I live (Mar Vista-a section of West L.A.), and the industry I'm in (The Natural Foods industry) are relatively tolerant. You end your post with a great point. Shouldn't there be more love in this world????
In Response to Bjake,
First of all the mob wanted to have sex with the men and they were in the city of sodom which was notorious for being homosexual. So they may not have been interested in his daughters, he could have been stalling. Anyway he was too drunk to know what he was doing with his daughters. And his wife died because she looked back longingly to the city and didn't want to leave because money was more important and she was warned not to look back.
Besides the Bible doesn't condone it, it merely reports on what happened. And about the slaves, the crime of kidnapping and selling someone carried the death penalty. People could willingly sell themselves as slaves for protection or to pay off a debt but were to be treated kindly and could choose to be free after seven years. Sometimes they chose not to be freed.
I don't believe in the Bible, so this argument means nothing to me, but to be fair, I'll leave your comment here as worded to see what other people think. As angry as I am over propositon 8 passing here in California, I will still be fair to those who are disagreeing with me.
I think it's just despicable that such a discriminatory ban would be put back into place. What ever happened to equality? Land of the free, my äss. How is it the tax-exempt church groups get to play such a strong part in influencing the government to enact such discriminatory legislation when it comes to matters of the courts and a service (state-approved marriage) that the wedding couples' taxes pay for?
On the plus side, same-sex marriage was legalized in Connecticut. A step back for one coast of the country, a step forward for the other coast. Hopefully it will serve as a template for other states to follow for legalizing it, and hopefully the new ban in CA will be overturned with legal action.

Eventually, California will allow gay marraige since younger voters overwhelmingly voted no on prop 8. It is just frustrating that prop 8 passed. Gay marraige is about love between 2 people and does NOT adversely affect ANYONE'S life in ANY WAY!!! I am just surprised that so many people still don't get that.
