Is Ju Jitsu Ruining FvsF Wrestling?
Personally, I'm tired of all the injuries caused because of ju jitsu and believe, that overall, it's added a lot of boredom to female versus female matches.
Even at the WWC a couple of FEMWIN sponsored matches were affected including Krissy being choked-out and Kara Bliss not being able to wrestle after being injured against Helen Von Mott. Now I have the utmost respect for both Grace and Helen and they would NEVER intentionally hurt someone but nonetheless, I've witnessed numerous injuries when a girl doesn't have training in ju jitsu and doesn't know when to tap while in some kind of joint lock, etc., such was probably the case with Kara.
No doubt people will argue that injuries happen in wrestling, which is true, but in my experience it happens far more often when one girl has a lot more skill in ju jitsu than her opponent, also, it's an unfair advantage and reminds me of a kickboxer going against a boxer. I really think the more training a girl has in ju jitsu the more important it is that she wrestles somebody with similar training.
As a producer I will say that ju jitsu has brought a lot of boredom to the genre. Although there are sexy elements to ju jitsu such as armbars and triangle chokes it seems the more ju jitsu a girl knows the less you'll see of scissors, grapevines, smothers, crossbody presses, full-nelsons, headlocks, etc. But an even bigger problem is that you'll see a lot more one-sided matches and I'm not talking about a sexy domination match or catfight! However, the BIGGEST problem is that you'll see a lot of seemingly emotionless fights!
FEMWIN's promoted well over 500 various matches and based on this I can say that ju jitsu does have a role in the genre but in my opinion it should be primarily ju jitsu versus ju jitsu and it's a great equalizer for girls when they wrestle guys. Also, some of the best and sexiest matches involve girls who both have a little training in ju jitsu but not too much!

I agree with everything you said. my opinion: more mixed wrestling!!!
but i'm a mixed wrestling fan, so i'm not really objective.

AMEN! Watching a jiu jitsu match is personally about as exciting as watching two robots wrestle. As in, not at all.
Don't get me wrong - I absolutely respect their abilities, but if we're talking about ENTERTAINMENT to watch (and what I'd pay to see, which as a customer is the real underlying issue from a producer's perspective) I'd MUCH rather see two girls in a pure wrestling match rather than any match involving jj. Scissors, grapevines and smothers all the way!

Agreed.
Like I've posted about over and over in the WWC Y! Group, you allow and enforce the Moves, Holds, Rules and Safety for the participants commensurate with and only commensurate with the activity being done.
You do everything possible to make the match as balanced as possible for the participants.
I'm also a Great Admirer of GENUINE emotion during a fem wrestling contest and if your assessment is right -- and since you're a first-class pro I have no reason to think otherwise -- that's all the more reason to follow your guidelines.

Hi Bill, Just a point of clarification. Cara was not injured at all in her match with Helen. She was however, quite sore the next morning because she had also done a private submission match before the one with Helen and then followed the Helen match with a private pro-style shoot and then a mixed submission match at the end of the day. She is new at this and did not pace herself so she was exhausted the next morning, not injured. She chose Helen for her first full on match and I agreed because I knew that Helen would be the safest wrestler for Cara to go up against. Helen pushed Cara but took care of her as well. After reviewing the the video, I can say that there are many times in the match where Cara left herself open to immediate BJJ submission techniques, and Helen let her off the hook. I understand that some female wrestling fans don't like the BJJ elements that have been influencing the industry. Personally, I like both styles. I just don't want any misunderstandings to grow. Cara had a wonderful time. She is so excited about finding her way into the the wonderful world of women's wrestling. The day we got back from the WWC, I asked her how she felt and she said "I feel like I've been hit by a truck, and since I was hit by a truck as a kid, I know what that feels like!" I laughed and told her that by challenging Helen Von Mott to a wrestling match, she had asked for it!! She immediatly said "and I'd do it again in a heartbeat!" So don't worry about Cara, she's good to go!
